After many years of experience working for a diverse range of major health organisations throughout Australasia, the team at RoRo Enterprises now offer their expertise to health organisation's around the globe. RoRo required a professional, distinctive and engaging brandmark and website to reflect their innovative approach and years of experience in the field of Health System Architecture.

Brandmark

The Brandmark is designed to reflect the adaptability of the organisation, RoRo Health System Architecture is all about turning conventional thinking on its head. You start from the positive outcome you desire and design systems to get you there. The colour selected for the brand and collateral is strong, engaging and down to earth. The brandmark makes use of a modified 'Libre Baskerville' - used in an unusual and surprising way. It was selected for its professional and timeless look and for its italic font, which is perfect for conversational items. 'Open Sans' is used for body copy - both fonts are available for print and web applications.

Web Design and Development

The website highlights the positive outcomes of innovative applied systems architecture. The site communicates the information in a user-friendly way with a tone of voice that reflects the RoRo teams expertise and innovation. The website is designed with an extensive blog section to initiate conversation with RoRo’s existing and potential clients.

Corporate iD

The branding was adapted for use on business cards, letterheads and other printed items and will make use of a digital metallic process.

Kestrel Australia

Background

Pakenham Doors and Screens were in need of a total makeover in order to reflect their position as one of Australia’s leading suppliers of Security Doors, Insect Screens, Shower Screens, Wardrobes and Mirrors. After 25 years in business, they had well and truly outgrown their name, brand and website. We were briefed to create a new Name, Brandmark, Corporate iD, Brand Guidelines, Responsive Website, Van Graphics and Building Signage.

Brandname

The name needed to be memorable, distinctive, engaging, Australian and preferably just one word. Being relevant and memorable is paramount. It's often quite difficult to find a name that ticks all the boxes and where the domain name is available. After going through an extensive naming process and producing a long list of possible names, we came up with a short list of 6. Interestingly, there was one that stood out for everyone and that was Kestrel.

The Australian Kestrel is a Falcon, who's distinctive straight-winged hovering habit makes identification easy. Whether hovering over crops and grasslands, coastal cliffs in windy areas or in city locations, the Australian Kestrel considers the big picture before deciding on the best course of action - clever, precise, agile and supremely adaptable. These distinctive attributes reflect the companies attitude to their business, products and customer service.

Brandmark

The Kestrel Brandmark was designed to be visually engaging and reflect the strength, precision and adaptability of the newly named company. A bold graphic depiction of an Australian Kestrel was developed using graphic shapes and smooth colour graduations. The colours selected are present in the wings of the Australian Kestrel. The typeface Museo was chosen for its bold and distinctive look, and is available in print and web fonts, in a multitude of weights, with serif and san-serif, so it was adaptable enough to be used throughout the project, in a range of print and digital formats.

Web design & Development

The new website is designed to be visually engaging and was purpose built to make the experience of researching, comparing and ordering easier than ever before. The wide range of products, and specifications on offer is communicated in the most user friendly way possible. Simple, clean and precise navigation draws the viewer through the site to discover all the products and options available and allows them to obtain a quote with a huge range of variations and options. The precise, detailed product photography throughout the site was photographed by Igor Sapina and art directed by ThompsonCooke Creative to ensure it reflected the high quality products Kestrel produce.

A major component of the Kestrel website was the development of the quote cart. A client can specify selected products in the design, size, colour and mesh type they require, with a multitude of optional extras included. They can also see how the price alters with each specification selected. Kestrel can then confirm all requirements with each client before purchasing. Kestrel can regulate all orders within the website CMS and sales staff use tablets to instantly confirm pricing onsite.

Corporate iD

The new Kestrel branding was followed through on to business cards, letterheads and stickers. A spot gloss was used to highlight the Kestrel graphic and business cards were matt laminated to ensure their durability for sales and installation staff. A single colour sticker with phone contact was designed for use on all products - providing easy reference for repeat business.

Signage

The Kestrel Showroom and Factory were repainted and updated with the new name and branding. Way-finding signage, separates the workshop from the retail entrance. The corporate iD colours were matched to Dulux paints for the factory exterior and the new corporate iD has made an impact in the streetscape. Kestrel's vans were also updated with the new branding, to create a fleet of eye-catching moving billboards for the company.

ESCAPE ARTISTS INC - BLOG

PROJECT

Escape Artists Inc. is a blog featuring extraordinary people, places and ideas. A collaboration between Kaye Thompson and Richard Cooke of ThompsonCooke and selected artists, photographers, film makers, writers, designers and musicians.

CONCEPT

The Escape Artists Inc are Photographers, Designers, Writers, Artists and Art Directors; with an eye for the most visually captivating and interesting places in the world. Our authentic and engaging content is carefully curated to inspire global wanderings, with the visually imaginative traveller in mind.

NAME

Escape Artists Inc with its multi-layered meaning was the perfect expression of what we wanted to create with the blog.

BRAND MARK

A painter’s palette shaped graphic, with oversized exclamation mark depicts the creativity, anticipation and spontaneity of creativity and travel. The EA letter forms were created from an adapted typeface, ensuring the brand mark is unique and engaging.

TAGLINE

A great tagline should encapsulate your brand offering. “Extraordinary People, Places and Ideas.” encapsulates the Escape Artists Inc offering, without restricting us creatively.

WEBSITE

Images and stories are created by the Escape Artists team and uploaded into the scrolling front page - which is then labelled with 'people', 'places' or 'ideas'. This will become important as the blog grows as the viewer will be able to search these subjects to reference places visited or artists interviewed etc.

CONTENT

Content is everything. A website or blog is no different to any other media. Whether it’s a business card, brochure, poster, website, blog, instagram or facebook post, it's our collective experience and expertise that allows us to produce great content and ensure the Escape Artists Inc is always enticing and inspiring.

BUSINESS CARDS

To showcase the photography and the diversity of stories featured on the blog we designed a range of six business cards. These will be updated regularly, as more images and more extra ordinary people, places and ideas are revealed.

BEKIO PASTRIEs

Bekio is a new Australian owned, range of imported European pastries.

ThompsonCooke Creative were given the opportunity to create the Brand name, the Brand mark and a range of packaging.
 

challenges

The first challenge was to come up with a distinctive, memorable and engaging name. These days brands are global, so it's often quite difficult to find a name that ticks all the boxes and where the domain name is also available. The brand name Bekio was a word we created. It was selected unanimously by our clients and the team at ThompsonCooke Creative, out of a list of around 80 names and a short list of 5.

The brand mark for Bekio evokes memories of traditional biscuits and pastries and is designed to have a strong on shelf presence in supermarkets and specialty stores. The glowing colour graduation in the brand mark and the off white we chose for the typography contributes to the brands inviting warmth.
 

The first pack designed for the Bekio range was for Authentic Liege Waffles. These waffles with sugar pearls are made in Belgium to a traditional recipe. Strong branding and a yellow striped pattern convey the warmth of the brand and will continue across the entire range of pastries. Distinctive typography highlights the key messages on the pack. Photography on each side of the packaging provides inspiration for the many ways to serve these decadent Liege Waffles.

Reverse V Project

BACKGROUND

The Reverse V project re-creates one of the greatest surfboard collections in modern surfing history. Between 1990 and 1992, renowned designer/shaper Maurice Cole built six magic surfboards for Tom Curren. With these breakthrough designs underfoot, Tom went on to win the World Surfing Title. The Reverse V Collectors Edition contains six surfboards shaped by Maurice to the exact specifications of the originals, as well as a limited edition case bound book, written by surf journalist Nick Carroll and designed by ThompsonCooke Creative. The book features the story of how the Reverse V was developed and how it revolutionised surfboard design.

PROJECT

We created a unique brandmark, website, merchandise and trade show signage. The Reverse V brandmark is a calligraphic play on the "R" - Reversed, and the "V". The colour depicts the rails of the famous 6' 8" - Reverse V "sticker-less" board surfed by Tom Curren at Backdoor Pipeline, on which he performed what many experts consider to be the finest single surfing turn ever - a magnificent full rail cutback!

The Reverse V website features information and images about the collectors edition surfboards, book and merchandise. The site incorporates a blog for news on Maurice and Tom's Reverse V travels, as well as an online shop and order form.

RESULTS

The Reverse V project was launched in Southern California at "The Boardroom Show". There was enthusiastic interest in the project and in the Collector Editions. Many enquiries and subscriptions to the Reverse V Newsletter were received via the website.
